About Us / Mission Statement

Southern Community Welfare supports families and individuals, focusing our services on early intervention and harm prevention.

We aim to equip, empower and care for those in need - supporting the whole person- emotionally, intellectually, spiritually and physically whilst being committed to the values of excellence, integrity, innovation and professionalism.

The Value of Health

Southern Community Welfare is committed to a holistic concept of health. This means embracing the notion that positive health and well-being includes the physical, mental, emotional, relational and spiritual dimensions of an individual. Furthermore, SCW believes that an individual’s health is inextricably related to the context that individuals exist within. Therefore societal health is also a priority, otherwise individual health is unsustainable. SCW recognises needs here in Australia and also overseas and has become committed to contributing in countries that suffer seriously poor societal health. Wilson says that ’there is no health in Britain without health in Bangladesh’. That remains the same for Australia.

The Value of Giving

As others give to us, we are also then afforded the opportunity to give of our time, money and resources and believe this then empowers those to whom we give to do the same. It is about empowering people to improve their capacity in life, enabling them to become all that they are capable of becoming. Therefore SCW commits to giving to ventures that fulfil the value of societal and individual health.
